My First Week Daring To Quit Liquid Sugar Challenge.

On the positive note, I found cutting down from sugary drinks was not that bad.

First of all this is what I did for the first week, was to not add any sugar to my drinks. For example, I would drink my coffee light and sweet from Dunkin Doughnuts. I would not have them add any sugar. While I’m at home I used the sugar free version of my French Vanilla creamer. Iced tea was unsweetened, or I’d just have water. Thankfully the taste wasn’t too bad to transition to.

The downside . . . this first few weeks are going to be the hardest. I had to tell myself that it is no different than when I stopped smoking. It was like having a mix of brain fog, feelings of just blah, and being irritable. We have a snack cart at work and I have to be honest . . . I hit that harder than I have in the past.

As far as “withdrawal” symptoms I have to say it wasn’t as bad as I expected. I kept going by reminding myself what is on the other side of the goal line. Supporting my daughter in her cutting down sugar and eating healthier. Getting down to my target weight. Having better energy.
